Throughput is lower than the device spec on ThermoFlex Mid and Narrow

Product

  • ThermoFlex® Mid
  • ThermoFlex Narrow

Symptoms

Throughput is lower than the device specification.

Cause

  • Low drum speed
  • 1-bit TIFF file is rotated 90 degrees—if the layout of the TIFF is landscape it will do a 90-degree rotation which, depending on the size of the job and the Brisque system, can take some time.
  • Defective light detector

Note: Exposing with a reduced number of diodes results in lower throughput. In this case, an error message regarding "reduced number of diodes" accompanies the low throughput.

Solution

  1. Though the device is calibrated, the cleanest (lowest) value of the dmin (stain level or 100 percent solid) can cause low drum speed. If the customer insists on this low dmin value, Use a curve to compensate, as described in the Brisque 4.1 user guide, Output Operations, chapter 39, Calibrating Output Devices: Creating the Excurve (page 95) and Creating a Tone Reproduction Curve (page 114).
  2. Replace the light detector (see Light Detector Replacement procedure).
