Connecting an InterPlater 85/135 HD processor to a Magnus 800 platesetter

Product

  • Kodak® Magnus™ 800 platesetter
  • Glunz & Jensen InterPlater 85/135 HD processor

Background

This procedure describes the following activities:

Requirements

Contact your local Glunz & Jensen dealer for information about obtaining a processor interface cable.

Procedure

Connecting the processor to the platesetter

  1. Turn off the Magnus 800 platesetter.
  2. Turn off the InterPlater 85/135 HD processor.
  3. Connect one end of the processor interface cable to the connector on the processor, and connect the opposing end of the interface cable to J14, located on the platesetter MSB.

  4. Turn on the Magnus 800 platesetter.
  5. Turn on the InterPlater 85/135 HD processor, and make a note of the processor version, displayed on the default startup screen. There are two versions available:
    • 4.01.02
    • 4.05.01

Configuring the processor to work with the platesetter

The processor screen comprises of navigation arrows and buttons.
Use the arrows and buttons to navigate through the menus and select the appropriate processor version.

Configuring the platesetter to work with the processor

  1. In the Magnus 800 Controller software Mode pane, click Tools.
  2. In the Tools dialog box, click the Plates Handling tab.
  3. Make sure the Disable processor interface check box is cleared.

  4. In the Magnus 800 Registry, verify that both processor signal detectors are open.
    (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Kodak\Magnus800\Platesetter\Platesetter base\MSB 10Objects\Detectors\Processor signal 1/2)

Interpreting processor related messages

The processor screen displays the status of the processor. The Magnus 800 Controller software receives two signals from the processor and generates a corresponding message relating to the status of the processor signals.
This section describes how to ensure the processor status corresponds to the messages generated by Magnus 800 Controller software.

  1. Locate and select the 80 SETTER READY option.
  2. In the 80 SETTER READY menu, each subsequent press on the down navigation arrow displays one of the four processor simulation modes: Ready, Busy, Error, Off. Using the table below as a reference, check that the Magnus 800 Controller software generates the appropriate message for each processor simulation mode.
  3. After checking the simulation mode messages, change the processor back to Ready mode.
