Using the Magnus 800 multi-cassette unit’s portable interlock defeater

Product

Magnus 800 multi-cassette unit

Background

During the calibration procedures, the service engineer must activate the multi-cassette unit’s (MCU) electrical and pneumatic components. When any panels, doors or covers are either removed or opened, the electrical and pneumatic components can only be activated by using the portable interlock defeater.

This procedure describes how to use the MCU’s portable interlock defeater.

Procedure

The portable interlock defeater is stored inside the MCU’s E-box.

Use the portable interlock defeater carefully and diligently, as described in the Magnus 800 Multi-Cassette Autoloader Safety Precautions for Service Engineer document.

To activate an electrical or pneumatic component when any panels, doors or covers are either removed or opened, do the following:

  1. Remove the portable interlock defeater from the E-box.

  2. Insert the portable interlock defeater’s cable connector into the portable interlock defeater connector.

  3. Press the button on the portable interlock defeater to operate any electrical or pneumatic component when a panel, door, or cover is either removed or opened.

Important: The electrical and pneumatic components only work when the portable interlock defeater’s button is pressed down.
If the button is not pressed down, the MCU’s circuit is opened and all electrical and mechanical components cease to work. In addition, the MCU performs an initialization each time the circuit is opened.

  4. When the service engineer has finished working with the portable interlock defeater, disconnect its connector from the portable interlock defeater connector, and return the portable interlock defeater to its compartment.
