Overview

Universal registration will be implemented on all Magnus VLF series 4 devices. The traditional six pin registration system has offset dual plates meaning that the drum registration pins are not centered on the plate—the pins are offset to one side on one plate and offset the opposite side on the other plate. A new six pin registration system called Universal Narrow or Universal Wide allows plates to be centered on the pins used. Universal narrow is the default drum registration on all series 4 devices. Universal wide is optional for customers that have XL and XXL spacings of (1060mm and 1420mm respectively). Dual plate punching requires universal registration to overcome the limitations caused by offset dual plates on the traditional registration system.

Universal Narrow

A six pin registration system that has the ability to register any dual plates in dual plate mode on the same pin spacing.

For dual plates, use pins 1 and 2 and pins 5 and 6.
Single plates use the same pins as the traditional pin registration.

Universal Wide

A six pin registration system that has the ability to register any dual plates in dual plate mode on the same pin spacing.

For dual plates, use pins 1 and 2 and pins 5 and 6.
Single plates use the same pins as the traditional pin registration, but also have a wide pin spacing of 1420 mm for XXL plates and a spacing of 1060 mm for XL plates.

Firmware Support

Controlled release 5.0 must be installed to support universal registration.
