Drum Vacuum Drive Timeout Reaching Reference Pressure

Applies to

ThermoFlex

Machines affected

All

Error number

DVC12

Component

Drum Vacuum System (DVS)

Problem

DVS runs but does not successfully complete the command 'drumvac on'.

Symptoms

Drum vacuum turns off shortly after 'drumvac on' command is initiated.

Causes and
Solutions

Gain parameters set incorrectly
Wrong version of firmware loaded on the machine
Drum vacuum unable to regulate pressure

Gain parameters set incorrectly

If the gain parameter is set incorrectly or the settling time set too long, it can cause the response to overshoot to a value unacceptable to the system.

  1. Type 'Drumvac' to ensure the set-point is in the range of 6.5-8.5"Hg.
  2. Type 'set al'. A list of parameters appears.
If the Dvkg parameter is not 500,  type 'set al Dvkg 500' (the drum vacuum PID gain setting). Type 'drumvac on'  to check operation.
If Dvkg is set to 500, change Dvkg in increments of 100.· After each change, type 'drumvac on' to check operation.
  3. NVS save aldvkg

The ramp time is reported in seconds. Typically 5-8 seconds is acceptable. Check for oscillations with drumvac command at intervals with full coverage.

Wrong version of firmware loaded on the machine

To display the version of firmware loaded on the machine, type 'list version'. Check with the response center what the correct version of firmware for your machine is.

If necessary, download and install the correct version of firmware. Refer to Appendix D of MPE Firmware Release Notes -  http://intranet.creo.com/support/firmware/ctp/Thermoflex/thermal/1.21_current/TFTS_100.doc

Drum vacuum unable to regulate pressure

Vacuum tubing gets disconnected or damaged.

  1. Check for any loose vacuum tubing.
  2. Check for any holes in the vacuum tubing or hose.
  3. Re-connect and replace any loose or damaged tubing.
