Component

Drum Vacuum Drive

Problem

Drum Vacuum Drive's Inverter Drive will not respond to manual commands.

Symptoms

The Drum Vacuum Pump enclosure feels very hot on the surface.
Alphanumeric display on Inverter Drive indicates a fault condition exists.
Alphanumeric display on Inverter Drive is blank.
Vacuum Pump does not turn on when RUN button is pressed.

Causes and Solutions

Fault condition disables Inverter Drive

Power disconnected

Improper wiring

Improper use of the Inverter Drive

WARNING! · Working with the DVD when the cover is off is extremely hazardous due to the presence of high voltages.· The Inverter Drive retains the high voltage power for at least 5 minutes after power down.

Fault condition disables Inverter Drive

If the alphanumeric display indicates a fault is present, refer to Drum Vacuum Drive Fault Detected document.

Power disconnected

If Inverter Drive's alphanumeric display is blank, power may not be present.

  1. Turn on the disconnect switch if it is off - the disconnect switch bar is vertical when on.
  2. Remove the Inverter Drive cover.· Using a voltmeter, measure the supply voltage to L1, L2, and L3. It must be in the range of 380 to 480 VAC line to line. If the line voltage is absent, the breaker may be tripped or a faulty component exists.

Improper wiring

Remove the DVP cover..

  1. Refer to the wiring diagram inside the cover of the DVD and ensure that all wiring is correct and that no loose wires exist.
  2. Access the DVP junction box. Refer to sticker 74-3246A inside the junction box and inspect for any loose wiring.

Improper use of the Inverter Drive

If the Inverter Drive appears to be functional but the Vacuum Pump is not functional, operation of the Inverter Drive is incorrect.

  1. If the remote LEDs on the Inverter Drive are illuminated, press the Local/Remote key until the remote LEDs are not illuminated. Also, ensure the Run LED is illuminated while the unit is running. If the unit is in Remote mode, go to solution 1 below.
  2. Using the DSPL, select the parameter that needs to be changed: Frequency Reference or Output Voltage.· Press Enter to change the parameter. Use the arrow keys to select a desired value.
Frequency Reference is between 50-100 Hz (3000-6000 rpm)
Output Voltage is 380 VAC (between 360-400VAC).
  3. With the Inverter Drive running, measure the voltage across T1, T2, and T3. If the line-to-line voltages are not consistent with what is being displayed by the Inverter Drive's alphanumeric display, the Inverter Drive may be damaged.
