ALE: roller on drum (error number 15085)

Applies to

  • 3244 Platesetter
  • 3244 Trendsetter

Description

  • Engine reports roller backbone on the drum when it is not
  • Engine reports roller backbone on the drum when it is, but was not expected to be.
  • The normal rest state for the engine is ready to load. In this state the TEC backbone is up with clamps locked to it and the LEC backbone is extended and mated to the leading
    edge clamps.
  • The machine can be left in a state other than the rest state after a machine reset. On startup, the machine is expected to be the rest state.
  • After a reset, the drum must initialize, but can't with the roller down.

Causes and solutions

If the roller is not on the drum (sensor caused):

Misadjusted reed switches or reed switch magnets

Return the engine to the rest state:

act drlr off
drum init

Notes

Masking sensors and timeout values. Mask with (set al nrs 1).

Prior to masking any sensors, increase the timeout value (set aldly roller) to a safe level above the values reported by the time engine command. Failure to do so can result in serious damage to the engine. Masking sensors should be treated as a temporary fix only and should be used only to get the customer up and running.

The switches at each end of the backbones are wired in series such that the actuation is sensed only when both sensors switch.
