Excessive Wear of Picker Guide Cable and Pulleys

Product

  • Trendsetter Autoloader with a version 3 Picker
  • TS2637

Component

Picker assembly

Symptoms

Picker guide wire and/or pulleys wear excessively

Cause

The angle that the cable (non adjustable ends) is tightened down at is critical. The cable, on both sides of the picker, needs to be angled back towards the pulley at the bottom of the rail. Otherwise when the picker is in the down position ,it torques the cable back causing fraying of the wire and gives a false reading of the tension in the down position.

Note: check for ECO 042 to replace the current part with a shoulder bolt so the position of the guide wire is self-correcting.

Solution

  1. Install ECO 042
  2. As an interim measure, check that the guide wire is angled back towards the pulley from the existing guide cable screw and washers. The angle is correct when the tension measured on the guide cable is the same when the picker is in the up position as it is when the picker is in the down position.
