Description | Theory of Operation
Located on the drum, just under the LECs, define the location of the leading edge of the plate. The plate rests on the blocks before the LECs are closed.
The VLF Platesetter engine has two registration blocks. The two blocks are 27.4" apart, center to center.
The VLF Trendsetter engine has two blocks and two pins. The two blocks are 27.4" apart, center to center. The distance between the registration block on the encoder end and the first registration pin is 11". The distance between the two registration pins is 9". Early VLF Trendsetter models have two blocks and one pin.>
The old style blocks (57-4315A) were changed to the new style blocks (57-4960A) because testing indicated film may slide past the block during loading on VLF TS. The new block has a lip to prevent this.
See Platesetter/Trendsetter Edge Register Precision note for more information.
