Plate stops on conveyor (x-axis)

Applies to
  • VLF Trendsetter AL

Machines affected All machines.

Error Number None

Component Conveyor (straight or L-type)

Problem The conveyor doesn't transport the plate smoothly along the x-axis. The plate stops or skews.

Causes and Solutions Cause 1:  Safety loop has broken (conveyor doesn't run at all).
Solution:
see VLF Trendsetter AL safety loop.

Cause 2:  Plate slipping on belts, contacting table (S-conveyor only).
Solution (a):
If the problem occurs when using a new plate size or thickness, check that the correct plate parameters have been entered in the firmware.
Solution (b):  Check the deck panels for flatness. The surface of the conveyor deck should be 6mm below the top of the belts.
Solution (c):  Check for dirt on the belts. Clean them using a mild solution of soap and water.

Cause 3:  Conveyor x-axis drive belt motor has failed.
Solution:
Check the x-axis drive belt motor, and its pulley and shaft. See VLF Trendsetter AL motors.

Cause 4:  Optical reflector sensor has failed to detect the plate.
Solution (a):
Check for dirt on the sensor. Clean it with a mild solution of soap and water.
Solution (b): Check the sensor for damage.
Solution (c): Check the following connections/cables:

  • cable between the optical reflector sensor and the Genine4 board
  • Canbus J26 (Genine0)
  • Canbus J24 (Genine4)
  • cable between conveyor motor and the Genine4 board

Solution (d): Check that the firmware has read the "plate detected" signal, and has sent the start signal to the motor.

Cause 5:  Genine board has failed.
Solution:
see VLF Trendsetter AL Genine boards.

Cause 6:  Power supply has failed.
Solution:
Check the Autoloader main power supply and the Power Distribution Board. (PDB) power supply.
