Symptoms

Possible symptoms include:

• Firmware resets
• Errors downloading firmware to a device
• CDI errors in Service Shell logs such as CDI Data overrun, CDI Parity, CDI Break
• FSAVE ALL corruptions
• Print Console hangs
• Serial data overruns

Cause

Communication errors increase on Digi ClassicBoard serial cards with any additional load on the workstation. Software such as Creo Feature Licensing (CFL) can cause additional load on a workstation.

Solution

1. If these symptoms occur before installing CFL, replace the Digi ClassicBoard serial card with one of the following new Digi AccelePort^® cards:
• Digi AccelePort 2 Port—Part number 609-00376
• Digi AccelePort 4 Port—Part number 94-3286 (card) + 16-4579 (cable) for dual-head, ThermoFlex, Gravure devices
2. If these symptoms occur after installing CFL and the customer requires CFL, replace the board.
3. If these symptoms occur after installing CFL, but the customer does not require CFL:
   1. Do not replace the board.
   2. Disable CFL on the workstation by selecting Manual in the Startup type list in the CFL Properties dialog box.
      
   3. Leave any existing dongles and drivers in place. They may be required by workflow software.
   4. If you require CFL to perfom service actions, enable CFL and then disable it when you have completed the service actions.
