Print Console cannot connect to Prinergy

Product

  • Print Console v2.0 (build 2.0.1.24 and later)
  • Prinergy v2.0.5

Platform

Intel

Operating system

Windows 2000

Symptoms

Prinergy does not appear in Print Console's list of available RIPs, which means Prinergy is not connected to Print Console.

Cause

This is a Prinergy problem that only happens if you uninstall the Prinergy 2.0.5 update patch and revert to version 2.0.4.

When uninstalling the v2.0.5 patch, the uninstaller resets the path to the original v2.0.4 path variable. If new items were added to the system path variable since the v2.0.5 patch was installed, they are lost when the uninstall program reverts to the 2.0.4 path. In other words, if you installed a program such as Print Console after upgrading to v2.0.5, the associated path items are lost when you revert to v2.0.4.

Solution

Add the necessary Print Console entries to the System Variable Path:

  1. Open the System Properties dialog box (Start > Settings > Control Panel > System)
  2. Find the System Variable section on the Environment tab.
  3. Click on the Path entry (may have to scroll down on the list).
  4. In the Value box, add the following to the existing path:

    C:\ServiceShell\bin;C:\CreoSupt\bin;C:\PrintConsole\bin;
