Always check the pin alignment before connecting the control cable

Product

Thermal 2 Head

Component

The head control cable female connector in Magnus 800, Magnus 400 & Lotem Quantum.

Machines affected

Magnus 800 (serial numbers M80477 or lower), Magnus 400 & Lotem Quantum devices with a TH2 head

Problem

The socket (female pin) in these particular connectors is much closer to the surface than on previous connectors and the diameter of the rubber holes are greater than the internal diameter of the socket. This means that the socket itself is more exposed and therefore less forgiving of bent or misaligned pins on either the TH2 or the connector.

Old connector with smaller holes:

New connector with larger holes:

Action

  • Always check the pin alignment of both the TH2 male connector and the cable's female connector before connecting the control cable. See the example photos.
  • The military connectors should seat easily and evenly. If this is not the case do not force the connector on.
  • If you suspect that the pins are damaged, see the troubleshooging item Intermittent communication, lvd data, or safety loop errors.
