Thermal 2 head focus parameters

Focus System Parameter Description Troubleshooting
set med [x] focusmode
  • 0: sets the focus system to plotting mode
  • 1: sets the focus system to special lens position control (do not use this mode for plotting)
Incorrect setting may disable autofocus functionality (it will keep the focus lenses fixed during the plot).
set med [x] focuslasermode
  • 0: sets focus laser to the normal current (most media)
  • 1: sets focus laser to a low current (LED mode. Use for very reflective media)
If this is set to 1 while using most media (i.e. media that is not very reflective), the sum will be very low. This can cause edge detect or focus laser fail due to low sum.
set foc actmode
  • 0: sets the current feedback to the focus actuator coil
  • 1: sets the actuator force feedback to the focus actuator coil
If this is set incorrectly, the plate will have many focus artifacts (similar to if the focus system was turned off).
set med [x] sd Sets the surface depth (focus position) for the particular media (-200 to +200 microns) If this is set incorrectly, it may cause image artifacts such as banding, magnification, or focus learn failure.
set foc offset Sets the global offset position of the focus lenses (-200 to +200 microns). This is obtained from a focus series. See troubleshooting information above for set med [x] sd
