  • [02327] Laser Diode: Possible safety fault (WLP fault)
  • [02330] The WLP burst data is not available
  • [03553] Safety loop fault has been detected
  • [03573] A safety loop fault is preventing normal operation

Background

About safety loop errors

When you are troubleshooting safety errors, is important to understand the different safety errors and the elements involved in the safety line.

To avoid unnecessary head replacements or incorrect safety fault troubleshooting, consider the following:

  • A safety fault is normally generated when a door or panel is opened on the device or when a safety condition is broken. When this happens, the circuitry (24 V power supply and interlock card) stops sending the 24 V to the safety lines on the head. See the diagram TH2 Voltages and Safety Circuits.
  • On a Lotem Quantum, Open Interlock may be displayed in the top left of the user interface (UI). If Open Interlock does not display when the other safety errors appear, other elements may have failed (for example, the power cable to the TH2 head, this cable is located in the cable track). There have been cases where this cable fractured and stopped the 24 V to the safety line of the head. This situation may not show in the Lotem UI. See the Quantum Interlock System and TH2 Safety Loop Diagram and
Lotem 800 Quantum General Wiring Drawings.
  • Note: Recently, the engineering team has identified a problem with the electronic board of some TH2 heads, where the Astec 3.3V converter erroneously shuts itself down. This causes the laser to shut down, generating a fault that may look like a safety fault. This fault is caused by the TH2 head.

Procedure

The following table helps you to identify whether the source of the problem is the head, the cable, the power supply, or any other part of the safety circuitry.

Using the error number, determine the possible cause and select the appropriate procedure.

Error Possible cause Follow Procedure(s)
[02327] Laser Diode: Possible safety fault (WLP fault)
  • TH2, Power supply inside the head
  • *Valid safety error
  1. Troubleshooting safety loop errors
  2. Troubleshooting WLP burst errors
[02330] The WLP burst data is not available
  • TH2, Power supply inside the head
  • External 48 V for the write laser
  • *Valid safety error
  1. Troubleshooting safety loop errors
  2. Troubleshooting WLP burst errors
[03553] Safety loop fault has been detected *Valid safety error Troubleshooting safety loop errors
[03573] A safety loop fault is preventing normal operation *Valid safety error Troubleshooting safety loop errors

* Note: A valid safety error is not a head-related problem.
