Thermal3 Command
(requires ENG access)
foc stim

Description This command puts the auto focus servo in a test state. This will cause the focus lens lens tube position to track the contents of the stimulus table until the contents of the table are exhausted. At this point the lens will return to the park position. This command is typically used to test the focus servo system by logging various servo variables while tracking a simulated plate profile.

If an auto focus initialization has not been previously successful the 'foc stim' command will fail. An auto focus initialization always occurs at system power up. There are several servo control states from which this command is disallowed. If this command is attempted in any of these states the error message "Unsafe to execute command in the current state" will be displayed.

The firmware also tests various other conditions before proceeding with this command. The Nose Piece Electronics (NPE) satellite must be present and functioning with full integrity. In addition, various sensor calibrations performed at system initialization must have completed successfully.
