Moving Legato Indexes to a Different Host
Moving indexes onto the new host when the host name is
different from old one (ex:rdev9)

In this example, you move indexes from rtest10 to rdev9.

  1. On rdev9 verify Legato 5.1 is installed with the latest patches and configured.
  2. Verify that Scheduled Archive is properly configured (on Archiver only).
  3. On the old host rtest10 move the indexes first onto a dataVolumes:

#mkdir /dataVolumes/rtest10.1.0/legato

#cd /backup/nsr

# uasm -s -i ./index | ( cd /dataVolumes/rtest10.1.0/legato ; uasm -r -iY )

#uasm -s -i ./mm | ( cd /dataVolumes/rtest10.1.0/legato ; uasm -r -iY )

#cd /dataVolumes/rtest10.1.0

  1. Copy indexes onto a new host dataVolumes (type on the old host-rtest10):

#rcp -r legato sciroot@rdev9:/dataVolumes/rdev9.1.0/

  1. On the new host rdev9 installed with Legato 5.X restore the indexes:

#nsr_shutdown –a

#cd /dataVolumes/rdev9.1.0/legato

# uasm -s -i ./index | (cd /backup/nsr; uasm -r -iY );

# uasm -s -i ./mm | (cd /backup/nsr; uasm -r -iY );

#cd /backup/nsr

#chgrp sys *

  1. Restart Legato daemons – nsrd,nsrexecd
  2. Move the old magazine to the new machine Jukebox.
  3. Perform Inventory using nwadmin.
  4. Via nwadmin create a new client with the name identical to the old host name (ex:rtest10).This client must have identical parameters to the existing Scheduled Archive client – rdev9.
  5. Via nwadmin, configure remote access for this client (rtest10) to be the new hostname (rdev9).
