Error |
The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( CIOArrayManagement ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. The following information is part of the event: scsi: LUN bad, ha index 1, device 2, LUN 0. |
||
Symptoms |
Windows 2000 Eventlog displays an Adaptec CIOArrayManagement error. |
||
Cause |
If the SCSI device associated with the error message is working correctly, this error is of no real concern. CIOArrayManagement is an Adaptec SCSI controller hardware sub-system monitor management agent that is preloaded in our standard Windows 2000 system ghost image. Its purpose is to monitor the health of the Adaptec-based SCSI sub-system. When the Manager reports an event in the event log about a certain device (HA ID, LUN ID, etc.) that is not reponding to the host adapter within a finite timeout period, and the device(s) connected to the reported controller (same HA ID above) is functioning properly, then the error is likely not a problem. What is likely happening is that the server is too busy to serve a SCSI request from the controller to the device within the timeout periodso the CIOArraManagement agent detects and reports to the event log. The error does not mean that a failure has occurred. Although it may be tempting to simply turn the agent off, having the agent running will detect real failure if it does occur, and will allow for proactive assesment of the error. |
||
Solution |
If the SCSI device associated with the error message is working correctly, you can safely ignore this error message. |
