Unable to inject media into Qualstar tape library using Removable Storage Manager

Symptoms

   When you open Removable Storage Manager and select Inject media, the picker moves to the import/export slot, but immediately returns to its original position.
The media export, loading, and unloading functions of the library work normally.

Cause

   The Adaptec® 39160/3960D driver has different SCSI commands than the correct version.

Solution

  
  1. Update the Qualstar library firmware to version 2.25 (TechPlanet link).
  2. Install the Qualstar medium changer driver version 2.0.0.6 (Qualstar link).
  3. Install the Adaptec 39160 SCSI controller driver 6.1.6300.100A14 for the Adaptec SCSI card 39160 - Ultra 160 (TechPlanet link).
    Note: You must install the Adaptec driver manually, or Windows 2000 will select the wrong driver (the driver with extension /3960D).
