Problems downloading? More...

If your file does not open correctly after downloading: breaks in data transmission during file transfers are common when network traffic is high. A break and subsequent restart may cause an error at the restart point, which results in a corrupt transfer. The end result is a file that does not open or run correctly. For example, *.exe files may not run, *.pdfs may not open, and *.zip files may be reported as invalid archives. The simplest solution is to retry downloading the file. If the problem persists, try to download the file when network traffic is lighter.

Tape Drive Firmware

AIT Firmware

Note: The Sony Tape Tool and the registry information list only the major revision level version of the drive firmware (0200 or 0209, and so on). To verify the full revision level (for example, 0200_j15), you must run a long diagnostic report (nori trace). Open the report in Wordpad and search for firmware.

If you are using a platform that does not have the Sony Tape Utility, you must create a Firmware Upgrade Tape (FUP) on a computer that does have the Sony Tape Utility. To download the utility and read documentation about saving and installing the files, go to Sony Storage Support.

Older Versions of AIT-2 and AIT-3 Firmware

If upgrading to the latest version fails, try installing an earlier version and retry. If this does not work, repeat the procedure again. It may take two or three attempts before you are successful, depending on which version is installed on the device. The following images are the older versions of firmware for the AIT-2 and AIT-3 (C and V versions) drives:

LTO3 Firmware (applies to Prinergy only)

The following file is the qualified version of firmware for the IBM Ultrium LTO3 tape drive:
