Can't configure a replacement drive

Product

  • Brisque® 5.0
  • Brisque 4.x
  • Brisque Serve

Platform

All Brisque platforms

Operating system

IBM® AIX® 4.3.3, 5.2

Symptoms

Creating dataVolumes via scismit failed after a faulty disk (hdisk5) was replaced.

Cause

Creating dataVolumes via scismit failed because svg4 was assigned to hdisk5 instead of svg5 which was previously assigned to hdisk6. In order for the scimit procedure to work properly, the hdisk number must correspond to the svg number.

Solution

    1. Realign all hdisks with their corresponding svgs using the mvhdisk script, as described in the Renaming an hdisk procedure.
    2. Replace the disk.
    3. Using cfgmgr, configure a new disk.
    4. Using scismit, complete the task by adding new dataVolume.
