Canon CLC 1120 with EFI EDOX front-end

Back to Proofing Connectivity home page

General features:

Connectivity: The model CLC1120 Canon Color Laser Copier has an Intel-based (Windows NT or 2000) Front End Workstation pre-configured to run the EDOX Software. The front-end is made by EFI. The Canon CLC is connected to the FE Workstation via the printer cable and workstations’ LPT port. The FE Workstation is seen on the LAN and can be configured for Prinergy to send data to it.

It will be necessary to create the ARAXI account (as a member of the Administrator Group) on the Canon EDOX Workstation, to grant Prinergy Read/Write/Execute privileges. To add the ARAXI User:

  1. On the desktop, right-click My Computer.
  2. Click Manage.
  3. Expand Local Users and Groups.
  4. Highlight Users and select Action>New User from the toolbar.
  5. In the New User dialog box, make entries as shown. User name is ARAXI. Password is ARAXI. NOTE: Password is case sensitive.
  6. Clear the User must change password at next login checkbox, and select the Password never expires checkbox.
  7. Click the Create button.

It will also be necessary to create a new NT Print Spooler (on the Canon EDOX Workstation) for Prinergy to send to. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Use the same Printer Driver and LPT Port as pre-configured on the EDOX workstation. Share this Print Spooler out to the network.
  2. Configure the Prinergy Proofing Process Plan to send EPS Raster Data (shades=256).
  3. Select RLE Compression.
  4. Configure the process plan to print to the Spooler configured for Prinergy on the Canon EDOX Workstation.
    Example:
Canon EDOX Computer Name = EDOC1
NT Print Spooler created on EDOX Workstation for Prinergy = CLC1120
Print to location specified in Prinergy Process Plan: \\EDOC1\CLC1120
