Qualification for Proofers

Green The device has been qualified by the engineering team or successfully integrated at a number of customer sites. The TSS is permitted to draft sales contract with the condition that Prinergy must connect successfully to these devices. Please note that the proofer may only be sold with the noted configuration, usage, and limitations.
Red* The device may soon be upgraded to Green, or it is on the TSS Priority List, or both. Devices undergoing qualification in the field are kept on the Red list until:
1) The customer is happy.
2) the Proofing SME has received enough information that he/she can satisfactorily update the proofer information in the Tech Library.
Red The device is not qualified and connectivity to this device cannot be written into Prinergy sales contracts. The device cannot be qualified because:
1) We simply can't connect to it.
2) It's too slow.
3) Quality is so poor that we don't think the customer will be happy.
Red can also mean we simply don't know anything about the device.

Proofer Classes

DCK (Device Connectivity Kit)
  • Essentially the same as a Class 3 proofer (i.e. halftone/contract), BUT...
  • Does not require a Class 3 license
  • Does require a Device Connectivity Kit specific to the device
Class 3 (also known as halftone proofers)
  • Halftone printers
  • High-res renderer
  • Dot-for-dot output (such as the Spectrum) or equivalent (such as the Kodak Approval)
Class 2
  • Color printers
  • Low-res renderer
  • Larger page sizes than Class 1
  • Content proofing only (possibly contract proofing with third party software, i.e. Best RIP)
  • 256 MB Proofing JTP required
Class 1
  • Color printers
  • Low-res renderer
  • A3 page size or smaller
  • Content proofing only
Class 0
  • Black and white printers
  • Low-res renderer
  • Generally laser printers, but possibly black-only inkjets

Color Support

Creo Support and setup assistance is available from Creo for configuring these devices as contract proofers. Some additional costs may be applicable.
BestRIP Support and setup assistance is only available for these devices from the BestRIP vendor. Contract quality may be achievable if setup is completed properly.
