HP DesignJet 3000 CP

Connectivity  |  Performance  |  Usage  |  Limitations  |  Resources  |  Proofing Home

NOTES: Very similar to HP 2000 and 2500 except that it allows for 54 inch wide plotting. Only known plotter that supports signature proofing of VLF-size plates at 100%.
What type of proofer is this?
A wide-format plotter from the Hewlett Packard line of 300 dpi imposition proofers. This plotter is literally indistinguishable from the 2000/2500 series, except that it is capable of plotting 54" wide, allowing plots of VLF plate types at 100%.
Connectivity:
All HP plotters come with a Jet Direct card, allowing the system administrator to assign a TCP/IP number to the device, with HP-RTL data spooled from Prinergy to a port created by Line Printer Daemon of Windows NT 4.0/2000.
Performance:
No negative feedback from the field.
Usage:
Many connections in the field.
Limitations:
Manual operation involved in getting TIFFs from Prinergy transferred to the Unix RIP unless you install Hummingbird first.
Resources:

  • Harmony curve for cutting back ink. Some types of HP plotters are known for saturating stock when faced with four-color blacks. Use when colors are too dark: HP3000NewsPrint.hmy
