Kodak Digital Science DCP 9000/9300/9500

NOTES: Tabloid-extra (A3) contract proofer. Kodak no longer sells the 9000 model. Limitations: Always use the DCP 9000 driver, as other drivers are bad!
What type of proofer is this?
Tabloid-extra (A3) contract proofer. Kodak no longer sells the 9000 model. It has a level 2 Postscript that is OEMed by Adobe. All models output at 300 dpi. The 9300 is the newer model, same as the 9000 except the RIP has been upgraded to Level 3. Doesn't really matter for Prinergy, as we spool EPS-Raster data. The internal RIP runs at 133 mhz. The 9500 has an external Harlequin RIP that can be installed on a separate PC workstation.
Connectivity:
The 9300 comes standard with a network interface that supports Ethernet and TCP/IP. Not sure if the network interface is standard or optional with the older 9000. Check with customer. The 9500 has a Harlequin in front of it, so you can just spool EPS raster data to a hot folder monitored by the Harlequin RIP. With configuration, just remember to NOT use the 9300 driver, but the old 9000 driver instead. The "Oversize B" page setting gives best results.
Performance:
With a 9300, there's a latency period of about 4 minutes before it starts to plot. After that, the RIP has no problem keeping up with engine speed. With the 9500, it obviously depends on the box that has the Harlequin RIP installed.
Usage:
Tons of installs under the old Impact workflow. Both the 9000/9300 and the 9500 have been successfully connected to Prinergy in the field and no problems have been discovered.
Limitations:
Always use the DCP 9000 driver, as other drivers are bad.
