| NOTES: This printer is quite easy to set up. Just spool at 300 dpi EPS CT raster file to the hot folder that is monitored by the Harlequin RIP on the Power Mac, and away you go. There's only one glitch: DO NOT turn on the Anti-Aliasing checkbox; this causes the files to take an enormous amount of time to be created, then the RIP processes them for about 30-40 minutes then flushes them without making a proof. | |
| What type of proofer is this? | |
| This is a 300 dpi contract proofer, the Fuji competitor to the IRIS 2Print or Imation Rainbow. It's a 2-up, meaning it is about 12.75" by 19.5" media size. You can spool a EPS raster file (CT - 256 levels) from Prinergy. | |
| Connectivity: | |
| The Harlequin RIP is run on a Power Mac, which is physically connected to the device via SCSI. Like all Harlequin RIPs, you can set up a hot folder that can take EPS raster files from Prinergy. No one has tried spooling a TIFF file from Prinergy to the First Proof (Harlequin) RIP, but that probably works too. | |
| Performance: | |
| Not known. Probably slower than the Fuji Pictroproof, which is pretty fast. Only one known site that has this proofing device, American Press in the North American south region. The Harlequin RIP was running on a PowerMac 7100. | |
