Prinergy 2.2 feature summary
New Creo Trapper (F475) More...
The new Creo PDF Trapper replaces the current vector PDF trapper available in Prinergy 2.1. In addition to the existing features such as automated batch, manual and interactive trapping/editing, the new Creo PDF Trapper offers several functionality improvements and a new user-friendly interface. There is a Standard and an Advanced batch trapper: the Standard version is designed for commercial printing requirements, and the Advanced is intended for packaging needs. The Trap Editor Acrobat plug-in comes in three versions: Standard, Advanced, and a free Trap Viewer.
New Creo ColorMatcher (F482) More...
The Creo Colormatcher is a batch colormatcher for Prinergy, to replace the current Prinergy ColorMatcher. In addition to the existing features, such as ICC-based color management for Platemaking and Proofing, the new Creo Colormatcher has improved handling of Hexachrome and other N Color profiles, and multi-color spot recipes to support Creo's new Spotless proofing and printing. The Creo Colormatcher is available as a Basic or Advanced version.
GUI for Prinergy Update Utility (F476) More...
User-friendly interface for upgrading to Prinergy 2.2 and applying major and minor updates.
Re-combine option in Refine Process (F376) More...
This feature allows a user to composite separated vector and raster data so it can be color matched and trapped. (New License Required)
Advance Production Automation File Editor (F163) More...
The APA File Editor is launched from within Workshop, and is used to help create APA files. (Enhancement to currently licensable option)
Fail on Non-Press Space Detection (F368) More...
An option has been added in the refine process to detect non-press space objects (RGB, ICCBased, Lab, CalGray, and CalRGB). If selected, the Normalizer will warn when non-press space data is detected and the Optimizer will ultimately fail the page.
Treat as Black (F475) More...
This feature allows a user to set a 'Treat as Black' flag for colorants in the color database. This flag then allows the Trapper (JTP and Plug-in) to determine if colorant should be treated as black when trapping. Note that 'Treat as Black" is only honored by the Creo Trapper.
Simple addition and subtraction in APA file (F163) More...
The feature allows the user to use simple addition and subtraction inside the APA file to apply numeric shift for the ASSIGN= operation. These operations will not be supported by the GEOM= operation. (Enhancement to currently licensable option)
PDF Scaling and Rotation in Publish PDF and Vector Output (F426) More...
This feature allows the user to apply scaling and rotation on publish PDF and vector output so the resulting PDF is self-contained and is consistent with other output types.
Cumulative Geometry (F413) More...
This feature allows the user to specify page geometry in a cumulative manner, in addition to the absolute fashion possible in the Workshop today.
Raster Recognition (F418) More...
This feature will recognize CT/LW and TIFF/IT content during refining so that overprint modification and trapping is not applied downstream. This is useful for mixed pages which contain vector-based objects as well as raster-based content (usually advertisements).
Normalizer Configuration File (F385) More...
This feature allows the user to have more than one normalizer configuration file to meet different workflow needs, such as Postscript or OPI bypass. The user can specify the name and location of normalizer configuration file in the refine process plan.
Backup to File (F387) More...
This feature allows the user to direct Prinergy to backup the system to a file instead of backing up to tape. The Prinergy System Backup currently allows the user to back up the primary server's system drive and system state, Prinergy database, the secondary server's system state and system drive to tape. (Enhancement to currently licensable option)
Virtual Proofing System for PC (F480) More...
Virtual Proofing System software allows the user to preview a rendered file on screen. It is used for confirming imposition, registration, trapping, page backup, fonts, image placement, and color breaks on the screen.
In addition to those features found in VPS for Mac, Virtual Proofing System for PC supports transparent colors, unlimited number of spot colors, stronger zoom function, and the ability to save color definitions across multiple jobs.Support for Veris Certified Workflow (F483) More...
This feature allows users to be certain that their proof has been correctly calibrated.
PDFX3: Output Intents (F484) More...
This feature warns the user if the X3 input file contains non-default OutputIntents and records the OutputIntents value in the job History.
Ink Reporting (F462) More...
The feature allows the user to generate ink usage reports by reading PPF files created with the PrintLink option. (Enhancement to currently licensable option)
Non-linear/Linear Web Growth (F490) More...
Enhancement to current web growth compensation to allow for split plates and compensation for shearing from misaligned cylinders. (Enhancement to currently licensable option)
New Variable mark $ColorsOnPage (F446) More...
This mark will print the colors for a given page and will help distinguish the colors in each layer if versioning is applied to the job.
History to Display Screening Information (F463) More...
Screening information used for output will be recorded in job history for future reference. Information will include: screen system, dot shape, screen ruling, screen angles for each color.
New Variable Marks (F429) More...
New variable marks have been added to identify the operator who produced the output, the device used, the harmony medium used, and the ICC profile that was applied.
Center Page (F386) More...
New page assignment mode in Prinergy, "center-to-center", that uses the center of the 1-up, rather than its lower-left corner, when assigning a page or 1-up's to a position in the layout. This change will eliminate image shifts on output when a page or 1-up's of different media sizes are reassigned in Prinergy Workshop.
Variable Marks per Position on a Layout / Text-File Based Imposition Marks (F460) More...
Some printers require a code to be placed on the imposed page or layout that is used downstream in the manufacturing process. A new set of marks has been defined that allow the mark information for imposition objects to be retrieved from a text file associated with the imposition file.
If you are involved in Prinergy support, you should join the Prinergy Frontline Team email distribution list. The list is used to discuss Prinergy issues and share Prinergy information among Kodak people responsible for Prinergy support. It is also used to send out Prinergy status updates to the field organization. Contact Dirk De keersmaecker to have your name added.
Tip: Since this list has a lot of email traffic, you may want to filter incoming email into a separate folder. For other tips on using the distribution list, see Prinergy Frontline Email List.
