Description: |
Plots a wpower series, where: The <pattern> parameter is an integer specifying which built-in test pattern to use. Use the list pattern command to display the available patterns (3 is ideal for the wpower series). The <start> parameter specifies the starting value in Watts, to three decimal places. The range is the same as for the hdm NVS wpower parameter. The <increment> parameter specifies the step size in Watts, also to three decimal places. For example, "plot 3 100 wpower 6.5 0.2" will plot pattern #3 several times over a 10" width, starting with the wpower set to 6.5 Watts and incrementing it 0.2 Watts with each series step. The current hdm NVS parameter "wpower" is ignored during a wpower series. The number of steps and the width of each stripe are set by the hdp NVS parameters "fmsl" and "fmsw" respectively. Minimum and maximum laser power safety checks are done in the firmware and the head itself. There is no danger of requesting a laser power greater than the head can safely handle. If the thermal head finds the requested power level too high, the plot will end in a error. If the achieved output laser power is no longer increasing with each series step, this indicates that the laser has reached its limit and the series plot will be automatically ended. Because of these measurements the smallest wpower step size is of the order 0.2 watts. This is because the measurement error is about 0.01 Watt and the firmware expects to meaure 90 % of the expected step otherwise the assumption is that the laser has reached its limit. 0.01 is 10% of a 0.1 step so to be safe the step size should be 0.2 minimum. The requested laser power is displayed in the diagnostic monitor at the start of each series step. If the general verbose level, or the "plot" verbose level, is set to 1 or higher, then the requested and actual achieved power are also displayed. |
