The nine film guides are located behind the loading and
unloading system. They are a part of the optomechanical assembly. The guides orient the
film as it enters the drum, driven by the loading wheels (#72).
The two outer guides are different from the other seven. Each of the two has a film
encoder (#60) and a magnetic lever (#56).
Two engineers are required when removing the Loading and
Unloading Unit. Do not attempt to remove the system from the imagesetter unless at least
two engineers are present.
Prepare a work space upon which you can place the assembly.
Remove the unloading guide from the Optomechanical Assy.
Unfasten the screws (#169,14,15) securing the metal strip (#83) to the spring plate.
Release the tension on the film guide (#58,57,61). Loosen the
screw (#85,164) and the spring (#86).
Release the set screw (#161).
Begin on either side of the Feeder Loading Shaft. If you need
to remove the end guides, perform the following: Skip the first film guide that has the
lever. Unscrew the second guide. Tilt and remove the guide from the
assembly.
Remove the end film guide. To begin, disconnect the encoder connector cable. Remove the
screw (#85), tilt the guide and move it sideways. Pull out the cube.
For the end guides: Check the height of the magnetic
lever. The edge of the lever cannot be above the surface of the guide. If this happens,
film will jam on the lever during unloading from the drum. To prevent this, add a small
fitting to the base of the lever. The lever cannot lift up as high.
Remember to reconnect the encoder cable to the connector. Re-install the funnel.
Re-install the unloading guide. Put back the loading system.
Power on the imagesetter using the control panel ON/OFF
switch.
