Operation of the conveyor is controlled by the imagesetter and is completely automatic.
After the exposure cycle of the material is completed, it is fed out of the imaging drum and into the conveyor input guide. The guide aligns the leading edge of the exposed material with the open space between the upper and lower conveyor belt rack assemblies.
A synchronous motor advances the belts at a speed matching that of the material being advanced from the imagesetter drum.
When short pieces of material enter the conveyor a solenoid mechanism actuates and raises the lower belts to close the space between the belts. This pinching action causes the material to be pulled away from the imagesetter. The film enters the processor transport and into the on-line processor.
With long pieces of material, the solenoid is switched off while the belts continue advancing and the imagesetter pushes the material through the conveyor and into the processor transport to the online processor.
