Removing the Old Assembly

Note: The orientation of the illustration is from the back side of the assembly.

  1. Remove the loading/unloading system.

  2. Remove the Left Back light cover (#132).

  3. Remove the lower medium light cover (#126).

  4. Disassemble the cassette motor (#70).

    Remove three 8-32 x 5/8 screws and washers (#14,6,23).

  5. Pull the motor forward to free the chain from the motor sprocket. The motor wiring is still attached to the motor: Be careful not to displace the wires.

  6. Disassemble the upper lever (#5,6,23,39).

  7. Free the washers, E-rings and spring. Place the loading system on its side.

  8. Insert the rubber roller service tool (280A34180) into the driving shaft (#41). Gather all of the Dellerin washers.

  9. Remove the rubber roller (#54).

  10. Remove the chain (#29).

Assembling the New Chain

  1. Insert the new chain (#29).

  2. Put back the rubber roller (#54).

  3. Insert the rubber roller service tool (280A34180) into the shaft (#41). Put each of the Dellerin washers on the roller, in the correct order.

  4. Put back the washers, E-rings and spring. Place the loading system right side up.

  5. Re-assemble the upper lever (#6,5,23,39).

  6. Insert the motor with the axis slightly forward. Place the chain on the motor sprocket. Push the motor into position with the chain tension set.

  7. Re-assemble the cassette motor (#70).

    Tighten three 8-32 x 5/8 screws and washers (#14,6,23).

  8. Check that the chain path is parallel to the right side plate (#9). This indicates alignment between the motor sprocket and the drive rollers.

  9. Put back the lower medium light cover (#126).

  10. Put back the Left Back light cover (#132).

  11. Replace the loading/unloading system.
