“Emergency Stop: Drum Speed Deviation Is Above the Limit” error appears during calibration on ThermoFlex Mid and Narrow devices

Product

  • Kodak® ThermoFlex® Mid II platesetter, all versions
  • ThermoFlex Narrow platesetter, all versions

Error

Emergency Stop: Drum speed deviation is above the limit.

Symptoms

The error message appears intermittently during one of the following calibration tests:

  • Delay
  • Intensity (drum speed)

Cause

A combination hardware and software limitation that is related to the image offset automatic number of steps option

Solution

There are two possible solutions to this problem:

  • Upgrade the ThermoFlex Controller software:
    • For XP operating systems, upgrade to version 2.02.354.005.
    • For Windows 95 operating systems, the upgraded version 1.32.350 will be published in Oct. '07.
  • Instead of exposing the plate automatically, you can expose the plate manually. On the Lotem Calibration dialog box Test tab, make sure to:
    • Set the Number of steps parameter value to 1.
    • Update the Image Offset parameter value each time you expose the plate.
