Magnus 400E specific

Release notes

New features/parts

Name Description Picture
Distribution box

Two D-box configurations are available for the Magnus 400 family and Magnus 400 II family platesetters. The D-boxes are compatible with both products; the only difference is the color of the D-box.

514-00222A: D-box 50 Hz + pack
514-00221A: D-box 60 Hz + pack

Photo Sensor Detector

The photo interrupter detector (part number 116-00001), also known in the field as Plate Present detector, Balance detector, Unload Conveyor detector, and Cassette detector (on MCU configuations) has been replaced with an improved photo sensor detector (part number 138A00100)

LDA chiller pipe

Four LDA units with black plastic covers were shipped to Beta customers. A chiller pipe connects to the LDA black plastic cover from the side at a 90° angle. This pipe is for the Beta devices only and is not compatible with the standard LDA unit already in the field.

Chiller fuses

Two fuses power the Magnus 400 (LDA) chiller cooling system—one for the water pump (630 mA) located in the front of the chiller, and one for the main switch (10 A) located above the 630-mA water pump fuse.

part number 175C31005                part number 182-00032

When system water cooling and flow errors appear, such as a Chiller Circulation Error, perform a diagnostic check on the fuses via remote access before ordering new uses.

Sensor wiring

The sensor wiring detector replaces the lower enable detector (on the unload roller) and the upper enable detector (on the load roller).

The sensor wiring, which performs the same function as the upper and lower enable detectors, enables the system to accurately locate the drum position so that the grippers open at the correct loading and unloading position.

Note: If your platesetter is equipped with the lower and upper enable detectors, when replacing parts, make sure to order the relevant lower or upper detector and not the sensor wiring.

LIF2 Rev C data flow card On Magnus 400 platesetters with Magnus 400 Controller 1.02.392 software that have laser diode array (LDA) heads and LIF2 Rev C, there is no TSP board installed on the PC.
Humidity view hole A window on the side of the LDA optic head indicates the level of humidity inside the head. When the humidity is too high, the color of the silica gel changes from blue to pink. If the humidity is too high, the laser diodes might fail to calibrate because moisture droplets can block the laser from passing through the micro lens system.
Temperature sticker A small temperature sticker located on the side of the LDA optic head indicates whether the head experienced extreme overheating during transportation. If overheating occurred, markings appear in different areas on the sticker, according to the maximum temperature to which the head was exposed.
Caution: Do not use the head if any part of the sticker changes from its original color.
Unload roller (single roller assy) All new Magnus 400 platesetters (serial number M41391 and later) are equipped with a single roller assy on the unload side of the drum. The unit is less sensitive to marks and scratches, and in case of fly-off, the roller and springs are not damaged.
The single roller assy is available in FCO 512-00411A.
D-box

The new D-box is equipped with two regulated power supplies on the backside of the unit that can accommodate a wide range of voltages. The transformer for 24/28 V that was located inside the D-box has been removed so that using a voltage selector key is no longer necessary.

The new D-box is backward-compatible and can be installed on earlier model Magnus 400 platesetters.

Spring spoilers All new Magnus 400 platesetters are equipped with spring spoilers, replacing the earlier fixed spoiler model. Spring spoilers are a prerequisite for MCU configurations.
