Boards

In general, the boards used in the Trendsetter VLF are very robust. To date, the majority of electrical failures in the Trendsetter VLF have been attributed to intermittent connections or failing power supplies.

The only exceptions to this statement are the 10A and 6A stepper driver and board assemblies (10-1313C and 10-1314C), which have been found to fail occasionally because of inadequate cooling of the drivers internal electronics.

When troubleshooting a PCP assembly, reseat all connectors first, then check all voltage supply test points. Checking the voltage supply test points will help isolate the more common connection and power supply failures sooner.

Warning:
Many of the electrical components in a Trendsetter VLF are extremely sensitive to electrostatic discharges. You must be well grounded with an antistatic wrist strap connected to a ground point within the Trendsetter VLF before accessing an electrical component.

Warning:
Some boards and cables in the Trendsetter VLF carry hazardous voltage signals. Make sure that you known whether or not a board or cable is carrying hazardous voltage before disconnecting the cable or servicing the board.
