Configure the control mode of the data logger subsystem to "Plot", "Sample" or "Off".
| The "Plot" data logger control mode will allocate a bank buffer and enable the acquisition of plot data. At the start of a plot, the focus subsystem configures the data logger subsystem with the maximum number of swaths and the maximum number of samples per swath. During the plot, the focus subsystem notifies the data logger subsystem of the plot data for each sample in the swath. The data logger subsystem will sub-sample the plot data to ensure that all swaths can be acquired. At the end of a plot, the focus subsystem notifies the data logger subsystem that the acquisition of plot data is complete. Once the data logger subsystem has been notified that the acquisition of plot data is complete, the plot data may be displayed.
| The plot data includes the lens position, the focus error and focus sum. Note that the plot data is packed in order to save the maximum number of samples per swath. The lens-position is clamped to a twelve-bit signed value, the focus error is truncated to a twelve-bit signed value and the focus sum is clamped to a twelve-bit unsigned value and then truncated to eight-bits ( for a total of thirty-two bits or two words ).
| When the acquisition of plot data is complete, the following message is displayed:
| Acquisition of plot data complete, <swaths> swaths, <samples> samples, <overruns> (<maximum)/<size>) overruns
| If the acquisition of plot data is terminated prematurely ( by the monitor command log stop ), the following message is displayed:
| Acquisition of plot data terminated, <swaths> swaths, <samples> samples, <overruns> (<maximum)/<size>) overruns
| The swaths indicates the number of swaths that have been acquired by the data logger subsystem, the samples indicates the number of additional samples that have been acquired by the data logger subsystem and the overruns indicates if an overrun condition forced plot data to be discarded. If an overrun did not occur, the ratio of maximum to size determines if an overrun condition is imminent. If the acquisition of plot data is successful, the number of swaths will equal the number of swaths of data, the number of additional samples will equal zero and the number of overruns will be zero. If the number of additional samples or the number of overruns does not equal zero, the plot data may have been compromised.
| The "Sample" data logger control mode will allocate a bank buffer and enable the trigger event for the acquisition of sample data. A variety of other subsystems continuously notify the data logger subsystem of the sample data. When the trigger event occurs, the acquisition of sample data begins and continues until the bank buffer is full.
| When the acquisition of sample data is complete, the following message is displayed:
| Acquisition of sample data complete, <samples> samples, <overruns> (<maximum)/<size>) overruns
| If the acquisition of sample data is terminated prematurely ( by the monitor command log stop ), the following message is displayed:
| Acquisition of sample data terminated, <samples> samples, <overruns> (<maximum)/<size>) overruns
| The samples indicates the number of samples that have been acquired by the data logger subsystem and the overruns indicates if an overrun condition forced sample data to be discarded. If an overrun did not occur, the ratio of maximum to size determines if an overrun condition is imminent. If the acquisition of sample is successful, the number of overruns will be zero. If the number of overruns does not equal zero, the sample data may have been compromised.
| The "Off" data logger control mode will free the bank buffer ( if allocated ) and disable the acquisition of plot / sample data.
