Overview

The Internal Conveyor is a complementary equipment for the Dolev 800.

The internal conveyor is to be installed in cases where the customer requests an on-line processor.

It leads the film from the unloading funnel to the on- line processor (which has its own built-in conveyor).

The way to install the internal conveyor depends on the type of plotter you are dealing with. It is divided into two categories:

  1. Dolev 800 with serial no. up to 11033 - loading system type I

  2. Dolev 800 with serial no. 11033 and up - loading system type II

Dismantle Loading System

Dolev 800 with serial no. up to 11033 where the loading system assy type I (cat. no. 507E29464) is assembled. On this type, the unloading funnel and the cassette on-line processor selector are attached to the loading system.

  1. Take out the loading system and dismantle the film selector
  1. Dismantle the handles from both sides.

  2. Release the E-Rings and pull the Sector to the side, until it comes out.
  1. Check that you have all the parts which are listed in the order.

  2. Dismantle the rear panels of the Dolev 800.

  3. Take out the unloading cassette and dismantle the two pins which hold the door on its hinges.

  4. Dismantle the light shade covers which divide the unloading cassette.

  5. Drill, according to the scheme (Fig. I - Location of the holes for conveyor assy in the main frame), five holes of 05mm diameter. Do not forget while drilling to activate the vacuum cleaner next to it.

  6. Drill, according to the scheme (Fig. II - Left flange - type II) and scheme (FIg. III - Right flange - type II), two holes on each flange .

  7. Insert 2 screws of 1/4 x 20 x 1/2" in the front holes (to be used as hinges) two screws 1/4 x 20 x 1/2". Secure these screws with loctite 638 (green). Insert the screws 3-4 mm from their end (leave 3-4mm of the screw thread outside the holes).

Assemble the New Funnel

  1. Take the cassette film guide (279A34867) and insert the two plastic bushing into the holes. Take the old funnel (361C20050) that you dismantled from the loading system type I and put it into the film guide in a way that the left side of the funnel is above the left side of the guide.

  2. Assemble the two old handles on the film selector in the same direction that it was assembled on the old type of loading system (when the funnel is in the upper position, the handle should be in the upper position. When the funnel is in the lower position, the handle should be in the lower position).

  3. Take out the set screws from the ball plungers on both sides, and screw in the two new handles (cat no. 280B29252 and 270B348451) with two screws 1/4 - 28 x 1 1/4" (380A08160).

Replace Loading System with the New Type

  1. Thread the assembled funnel on the protruding screws (the ones in paragraph #8).

  2. Push it to the back and with two funnel locks (280A34844) attach the funnel to its place.

  3. Put the new loading system assy type II (507E34864) in the place of the old loading system assy type 3 (507E29464) and close it with the two pins.

  4. Adjust the funnel in a way that when the selector is in on-line processor position, the film will transfer to the internal conveyor as smoothly as possible. If a fine adjustment is not sufficient you can dismantle the funnel and change the direction of the funnel with its own screws (holding the parts of the funnel).

  5. Check that the loading system interlock is activated and well adjusted) in the closed position.

Install the Internal Conveyor

  1. Put the internal conveyor in place (from the front side). Do it while the racks are in the closed position. Place the conveyor above the fine holes. (Pay attention to the orientation of the conveyor. The arrow which is marked on the conveyor should face the back of the machine.)

  2. Put in the two right side screws 8-32x1/2" and tighten them with washers, spacers and nuts.

  3. Place the last screw on the left side 8-32x 1 1/2" (the last left hole).

  4. Pull out the conveyor (with the two fixation pins) until the two other holes show. Place the two last screws 8-32x1 1/4" and tighten them with washers, spacers and nuts.

  5. Check if the end of the funnel is aimed directly on top of the inlet of the conveyor. If not adjust the funnel.

  6. Connect the power cables and the control cables which are found on the left side of the internal conveyor to the two molex ...... power ADJ and cable D-type for detecotors (control).

  7. Check, by unloading 5 sheets of film (use casette no. 1,2,3) that the conveyor and the rest of the system is working well.

Installing Conveyor on Dolev 800 Frame

caution.gif (1547 bytes)

  1. Remove the frame side of the slides and brackets from the conveyor assembly and fasten the left and right brackets to the frame of the imagesetter.

Note: Internal conveyors can be supplied without the frame slide brackets. A separate slide kit (Item #80 of the parts list) is available. Attach to frame and proceed.

  2. Extend the left and right slides fully until they lock in place. Move the ball bearing assemblies in the slide mechanism to the entry edge of the slide.

  3. Carefully slide the conveyor into the extended slide, placing it all the way in until the latching pins are fastened.

  4. Disengage latching spring and continue pushing the conveyor fully into the imagesetter.

  5. Engage the locking pins on each side.

  6. Plug the signal and power connectors into their respective matching receptacles.

Note: For adjustment of the belt pinching mechanism see the adjustment procedure below.

Post-Installation Check

Expose and transport at least five (5) sheets of material before proceeding. Inspect for any signs of damage, improper transport or scratches.

Scratches on the material are caused by damaged entry or exit guides. Inspect guides and repair or replace as necessary.
