Lotem 800 Calibration

Resolution Test

The objective of the resolution test is to calibrate the optical head so that the distance between two adjacent laser dots will correspond with the file resolution. The test should be performed for resolution 100 and repeated for other resolutions the customer intends to use. The test results do not depend on plate type, size or thickness, therefore this test can be performed on any plate the customer uses.

Note: It is possible to calibrate the resolution motor to other resolutions, if required by the specific customer site. If the selected resolution is not yet calibrated, the machine automatically calculates the resolution stepper motor value.

Test procedure:

  1. Load the plate you intend to use for this test.
  2. From the Brisque Launch pad, or from the Setup panel, double click the Calibration icon; the Lotem calibration window opens.
  3. Choose Resolution from the Calibration Type menu.
  4. res.gif (10932 bytes)

  5. Current Plate is automatically read from the PC Controller.
  6. Unload policy - see in "Focus Test".
  7. Image Offset - see in "Focus Test".
  8. Test Resolution: choose the resolution value. If the customer intends to expose in several resolutions, it is recommended to repeat the test for the values in the resolution pop-up list.
  9. Motor value: after the test is completed, enter the optimal stepper motor value in this field. The listed value is a default value.
  10. Test Motor values (steps): enter the requested motor values range. Recommended: enter a range of +/- 100 motor steps of the default motor value.
  11. Number of steps: enter the number of steps. Recommended - the distance between steps should be 20. For example, if the above motor values range is 1000 - 1200, then the number of steps should be 11.
  12. Press Test to initiate the resolution test according to the above setting.

Note: Press Get to load a previous resolution test result from the PC controller.

  1. The application performs several exposures, according to the settings in the above window
  2. When the exposure is completed, develop the plate and examine the results.
  3. Based on the results, determine the optimal motor value. This is the stepper motor value in which the optical head is calibrated.
  4. Enter the above value in the Motor value field in the Resolution calibration window.
  5. If necessary, repeat the test for other resolutions the customer will use.
  6. Press Save to save the new Motor value in the PC controller.
  7. Press Exit to exit from this window, or continue to another calibration test.
