  3. Install the punch onto the punch bar
  4. Secure the air tubes to the platesetter
  5. Connect the punch to the power supply
  6. Connect the air tubes to the punch

Configuring the software

  1. Define the variable punch
  2. Create two new punch sets for the variable punch
  3. Test

Prerequisites

  1. In the Kodak Magnus 800 Controller software, raise the platesetter’s loading platform.
  2. Open the platesetter’s right side door.
  3. Shut down the air supply leading to the platesetter.

Installing the hardware

Install the punch solenoid on S300 platesetters

Note: For S100 platesetters, continue to the section Route the punch air tubes.

Route the air tubes

Insert the two air tubes through the access hole located to the right of the punch bar and route them through the access hole located above the air tube manifold. At this stage of the procedure, do not cut the air tubes to their required length, nor secure them to the platesetter.

Connect the black air tube to the solenoid’s outer connector and the orange air tube to the solenoid’s inner connector.

Install the punch onto the punch bar

The punch is secured to the punch bar with a T-nut (372E01011).
Use a flat head screwdriver to install the T-nut onto the punch bar.
Position the T-nut at the punch’s final location, according to the customer’s punch configuration layout. If required, reposition any Molex brackets that may interfere with the punch’s final location.

Secure the air tubes to the platesetter

Cut the air tubes to their required length and then use cable ties to secure the tubes to the inside of the platesetter. Begin securing the tubes from the punch bar and continue to the air supply manifold.

Connect the punch to the power supply

Connect the punch’s power supply connector to the closest, available Molex connector (located on the punch bar).

Define the variable punch

  1. In the Registry Editor, change the Variable punch valve’s Open value to 1.

  2. Change the Open values of the variable punches that have just been installed.
    1. In the Registry Editor dialog box, click the Punch # switch folder corresponding to the installed variable punch. For example, if a variable punch has been installed at Punch #2 switch, click Punch #2 switch.
