MCE Trendsetter NEWS
Controlled Release Version 5.1—patch release (ECO CA12283,  17 May 2007)

IMPORTANT:

• This release should only be used to provide support for Windows 2003 and Windows XP.
• MCE CR 5.1 is a patch release, tested ony on MCE NEWS 100, 150, and 200 devices. It contains the following fixes, among several others:
  • Improved plate-scratch prevention for Trendsetter NEWS with the Dual-bay option
  • Single-broadsheet equipped devices can now operate with the Single-broadsheet option disabled
  • NEWS 200 stitching fix
• Before upgrading to this release in the field, read the CFL upgrade information on the CFL site.
  The CFL Controlled Release Upgrade flowchart and CFL Controlled Release Upgrade flowchart for CEM outline the processes needed for CFL CR upgrades. Use the Configuration checker script and additional information on the CFL Procedures page.
• You must have a customer dongle, service dongle, and customer license files before installing this release or the result will be a hard-down situation.
  Note: The dongles do not come with the CR—they must be ordered separately through the Response Center. See Ordering a customer dongle for more information. The license files can be transferred to the workstation from the RC once the dongle serial number is known.
• You must install the version of Service Shell in this controlled release before downloading firmware.
• Some Trendsetter NEWS devices may require hardware upgrades (GENINE board, carriage drive amplifier, unload table pulley) before upgrading to Controlled Release 5.1. See Trendsetter NEWS Release Notes for MCE firmware version 1.30 for more information.
