Measuring engine, picker, and table actuator times and adjusting actuators

Product

  • Trendsetter® 400/800 base
  • Trendsetter Autoloader (AL)
  • ContinuousLoad for Trendsetter (CL)
  • Trendsetter NEWS

Background

In order maintain throughput and to diagnose problems caused by actuators acting too slowly or too quickly, it is useful to know:

  • How to measure the timing of the actuators
  • Which actuators are field-adjustable
  • How to adjust any actuators whose timing is out of spec.

Procedure

Engine time | Picker time | Table time

Measuring and adjusting engine actuator timing

  1. In Service Shell’s Device Monitor command box, type:
    engine time

  2. The device reports engine actuator timing information.

  3. Examine the table below to determine whether the timing of all actuators is within spec. If not, and if the actuator timing is field-adjustable, click the green bullet • to go to the page showing the regulator to adjust for that actuator.

LEC down 450 Check for evenness
LEC up 300 50
Roller down 450 Check for evenness
Roller up 300 50
Ramp in 1050 Check for evenness •
Ramp out 500 Check for evenness •
TEC down 1100 Check for evenness
TEC unlock 400 50
TEC lock 250 50
TEC up 250 50

Measuring and adjusting picker actuator timing

  1. In Service Shell’s Device Monitor command box, type:
    picker time

  2. The device reports picker actuator timing information.

  3. Examine the table below to determine whether the timing of all actuators is within spec. If not, and if the actuator timing is field-adjustable, click the green bullet • to go to the page showing the regulator to adjust for that actuator.

Notes:
1. Devices with rotator
2. Devices without rotator
3. Picker up time applies to GMCE/TMCE devices that have FCO CA11580 (new picker up/down sensors) installed.
4. Plate separator option is only enabled on full format NEWS devices and Trendsetter Autoloaders.

Measuring and adjusting table actuator timing

  1. In Service Shell’s Device Monitor command box, enter command:
    table time

  2. The device reports table actuator timing information.

  3. Examine the table below to determine whether the timing of all actuators is within spec. If not, and if the actuator timing is field-adjustable, click the green bullet • to go to the page showing the regulator to adjust for that actuator.
