Why we are doing this? What is this RSS Stuff?
We are at the beginning of the rollout of the Phase 1 of the Project Nexus. Phase 1 consists of the global RSS server and RSSDaemon rollout, which we all will be a part of. By installing RSSDaemon software on all of the Intel/Windows based machines in the field and integrating it with the Nexus/RSS server in the RC, we, as a service organization, will be able to significantly improve our remote support capabilities.
RSSDaemon Install at a glance?
The install of the RSSDaemon is a simple procedure that requires you to copy a set of files onto a server at a client site, perform the install on that server and then propagate the installed software to other machines on site we might me supporting. It only pertains to Intel based Creo servers and workstations running Windows. There is no existing build of the RSSDaemon that will work on Alpha processors and there is no need to install it on AIX based IBM servers.
This is a one-time effort and the procedure it self should not take you more than 15 min per site (including careful reading and following of the step by step install guide and testing). There is no need to stop the production to install RSSDaemon. The time is off essence though, so the faster we accomplish this the faster can Creo Service move into the next chapter of remote connectivity and support.
Here are the general steps:

Wait a minute! I am having trouble with this thing. What do I do now?
In our experience the RSSDaemon install is pretty much trouble free. We did, however, encounter some issues and here is the page that will give you more details on how to troubleshoot the RSSDaemon installation or how to troubleshoot the Service Shell installation.
OK, I installed it and notified the RC. What happens next?
What should I expect to see after the install? Any adverse effects on the system?
Not much. Really... The systems that have RSSDaemon installed on the barely get affected by it.
What does this mean to me?
A lot. Really... With Nexus in place you should be able to do much more in much less time.
