Limitations working with DCS 2.0 Files in Brisque 3.0.38 and 4.0

Product

  Brisque 3.0.38 Update CD2 and Brisque 4.0

Platform

Brisque 3.0.38

  • E30 - Victory
  • 43P-140 Tiger1
  • 43P-150 Tiger2
  • F50 - Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)

Brisque 4.0:

  • E30 - Victory
  • 43P-140 Tiger 1
  • 43P-150 Tiger 2
  • F50 - Wildcat (2 and 4 CPUs)
  • 44P-170 Hammerhead
  • 6F1 Condor (2, 4, and 6 CPUs)

Operating system

IBM AIX 4.2.1 and IBM AIX 4.3.3

Symptoms

  • Nested DCS2.0 files in the Composite PostScript mode are not currently supported.
  • The OPI and PSImage of the DCS2.0 format are not currently supported.
  • When creating a DCS2 file, make sure that you do not include an EPS object whose prefix name is the same as the DCS2 filename.
  • The PS Preview application on the Brisque does not display all the DCS2.0 Spot layers, except for the last Spot layer.
  • If the DCS2.0 file contains Spot Color separations, it must be RIPed in either the All to Spot or Specific mode. The All to Process mode produces poor RIP results.
  • Merging two Spot color of a DCS2.0 image in the Specific mode will cause one Spot separation to disappear. This occurs in both RIP Level 2 and 3. This does not effect additional Spot separations in the file.

Solution

These are known limitations in Brisque 3.0.38 and Brisque 4.0.
