Limitations creating DCS 2.0 files from QuarkXPress 3.3 and 4.x for Brisque 3.0.38 and 4.0

Product

  QuarkXPress 3.3 and 4.x

Brisque 3.0.38 Update CD 2 and 4.0

Platform

  Macintosh

Operating system

IBM AIX 4.2.1 and IBM AIX 4.3.3

Symptoms

  • Working with files in Quark 3.3.x and  4.x that contain inserted DCS2.0 files, originally saved via Photoshop 5.0 or 6.0, in the Multiple DCS File No composite mode (a user defined Preview parameter saved with the file), are not currently supported by Brisque.
  • The pre-separated PostScript files created from QuarkXPress with DCS2 will include CMYK equivalence values only when the Spot Color XT in QuarkXPress is active in the QuarkXPress application. If the extension is not installed, any spots colors existing in the file will come out as black.

Solution

These are known limitations in Brisque 3.0.38 and 4.0.
