Spiral and customer punches
|
Problem
|
|
- In the Lotem Spectrum, the proof loading arm collides with
the punch cover(s) during loading.
- In Lotem 800 machines that have the 0.15 mm
Plate Support Kit installed, plates often collide with the punch
covers, and the plate loading tolerance for adjustment is very small.
|
Solution
|
|
Installation of a smaller punch cover assembly (9 mm smaller
from front to back, as shown below) on each punch.

- In the Lotem Spectrum, the smaller punch cover assembly
enables the proof loading arm to move up and down without
colliding with the punch cover(s).
- In the Lotem 800, installation of the smaller punch cover
assembly provides 9 mm of additional space in front of
the punch cover. This space creates a wider range for
adjustment of the “X On Wheel” parameter to prevent
0.15 mm plates from colliding with the punch cover(s).

Procedure
|
|
This procedure includes the following steps:
Pre-installation site inspection
Before implementing this FCO, you need to go to the customer site to
verify installed punch type or types. Then, order the punch cover assembly
or assemblies required, as detailed in Parts
needed.
Installing the punch cover assembly
- Open the front door.
- Disconnect the punch detector wiring on each punch.
- On each punch, remove the two punch cover securing screws (shown below)
and lift the punch cover off of the punch.

- On each punch, place the new punch cover assembly on the
punch and secure it in place using the two screws that you previously
removed.
Note: Be sure to apply Loctite™ 242 to each screw.
- Reconnect the punch detector wiring.
- Test functionality and adjust as required, as described in Test
& Adjustment Procedure in FCO 27707 A & B.
