All power supplies are connected to the PDB. Power is supplied from the PDB to the various components such as MCE and GENINE boards via the CAN Bus.
There are 4 power supplies for MCE devices:
PS1 supplies power to all of the devices on the CAN bus (PDB, MCE, & GENINEs (if installed)). Each of these boards locally regulate the 24V down to the voltage levels they require. This power supply in always on when the Trendsetter is on.
This is the same unit as PS1. It should be adjusted to 48 Volts. PS2 supplies power to the carriage drive. This power supply is switched by the PDB according to the state of the interlocks and the SIO keyswitch.
PS3 supplies power to the thermal head write laser. This power supply is switched by the PDB according to the state of the interlocks.
PS4 supplies power to the thermal head for all functions except the write laser. This power supply is switched by the PDB according to the state of the interlocks.
See the PDB Wiring Diagram in the Trendsetter GMCE/TMCE Wiring, Safety, and Block Diagrams, (contains a POWER SUPPLY ALLOCATION TABLE at the bottom of the page with more information on the above power supplies)
See the Safety Circuit Wiring Diagram in the Trendsetter GMCE/TMCE Wiring, Safety, and Block Diagrams
When servicing the device, a Power Box Disconnect Switch Service Override tool (15-3526) is needed to turn the power on when the inner access panel has been removed.
