Command: load

Description:

Transfers a plate from the picker to the drum. Returns a "Load Complete" message if successful, otherwise returns an error message.

Moves picker down and in towards plate stack, turns off vacuum, closes leading-edge clamp, winds plate onto drum, and puts the trailing-edge clamps onto the drum.

If the al lps parameter is set to 1, the plate size will be measured as the trailing edge of the plate passes the optical plate sensor on the load ramp. If the plate is either larger or smaller than expected, the plate will stop being wound onto the drum and will be unwound back up the load ramp at a drum speed of ldvel/10 (minimum of 5rpm).

The CAL option can be used to automatically calibrate the al soff parameter. To do this, enable the optical plate sensor by setting al lps to 1, make sure that the state bay 1 msz parameter contains the correct main-scan dimension of the plate to be loaded, type PICK, and then type LOAD CAL. The firmware will load the plate onto the drum and automatically calibrate the al soff parameter. This parameter will be used during subsequent LOAD commands to calculate the measured plate length.

Applies To:

  • Trendsetter_400/800_Auto
  • Trendsetter_NEWS

Syntax:

load [cal]

Notes:

All plate information is transferred from "state plate_loc p" to "state plate_loc d".

The plate size is measured by the optical load-ramp sensor as the plate is being wound onto the drum if the al lps parameter is set to 1 and the al soff parameter has been calibrated.
