Calibration Test Procedures Overview for Lotem 400 FH, Magnus 400 LDA, and Magnus 400 II LDA Family Platesetters

After installing a new thermal imaging head, you must recalibrate the platesetter.

Improper calibration of the Kodak® Lotem® 400 FH/Kodak Magnus™ 400 LDA/Kodak Magnus 400 II LDA family device can result in the following imaging problems:

To prevent these problems, make sure to calibrate your device according to the calibration test procedures listed in this document.

Calibration test procedures prerequisites

Calibration test procedures

When replacing an optical head, perform the calibration test procedures in the following order:

  1. Focus calibration test
  2. Elevation adjustment procedure
  3. Laser uniformity calibration test
  4. Resolution calibration test
  5. Delay calibration test
  6. Intensity calibration test
  7. Drum speed calibration test

Anti-collision guidelines

Peform the following steps to prevent collision between the head and the drum:

  1. Loosen the two screws on the focus limit block.

  2. Move the focus stepper motor to pos 400.
  3. Manually rotate the drum, and verify that the focus lens does not touch the grippers.
  4. If the lens touches the grippers, move the focus limit block accordingly.
