Due to time pressures and technical problems encountered when rolling out Feature Licensing support to the Field, version 3.3 of Service Shell is now available. It provides a basic access level for sites that do not yet have Feature Licensing installed. This exception applies particularly for Shared Maintenance customers with MPE machines; these customers may require Service Shell access to be arranged quickly, or they may have older workstations where CFL could be problematic. This release and release notes are available on the Downloads page. Additional information is available in a troubleshooting item. (This news item was first posted on 20 Mar 2007.)

In some systems, a newly-installed dongle will use Sentinel driver version 5.41 instead of version 5.42, which is the version configured in the baseline image. This causes applications such as Prinergy, Prinergy Evo, and Print Console, which use the Sentinel driver to communicate with the dongle, to consume large amounts of CPU time and the server locks up. For details and the solution to this problem, see Sentinel driver conflict with dongle causes Dell PE830, 840, 2900, 2950 servers to lock up.
