This chapter describes the calibration procedure of the optic system of the Lotem 800. This procedure is performed by the service engineer at the customer's site, after the platesetter installation.

Important note !

After installation, there is no need to calibrate the machine. You should expose the SDT file from the Brisque and examine the plate. If results are unsatisfactory, perform the following calibration tests.

Note: The results for some of the calibration tests depend on the plate type; these tests should be repeated for different plate types.

The calibration tests and the setting of the optimal values are performed from the Brisque, using the Lotem 800 calibration application. All machine calibration parameters are then saved on the PC controller.

Calibration objectives:

  1. To find the optimal focus stepper motor value for different plate types.
  2. To determine the optimal drum speed and laser intensity for a given plate for resolution of 100.
  3. To find the optimal beams delay.
  4. To calibrate the resolution motor for five (5) main resolution values (60, 80, 100, 120,140)
  5. To determine the optimal angle of elevation of the optical head.
