Background

This procedure describes how to set up the Magnus 800 platesetter and Magnus 400 Quantum platesetter for lenticular printing.

Before beginning this procedure, read the Lenticular printing reference guide in its entirety.

Procedure

  1. Back up the platesetter parameters:
  2. Use the firmware upload script to install new MCE main firmware and overwriting pattern firmware.
Note: The overwriting pattern reduces the throughput of the Magnus platesetters by 50%.

  3. Edit and apply a pattern ID #3 to the media set that is designated for lenticular printing.
Important: The specific media set should be used only if jittering appears on the exposed plate.
To edit the media slot and apply the pattern ID, type the following at the Magnus/Quantum command prompts:
    • >> prm hazardous media enable
    • >> set media x patternid 3
  4. Lenticular printing requires a fine tilt adjustment which must not be greater than 1.5 micrometers or 1/6 of a pixel.
